Term 4 Reflcetion

What have you enjoyed the most this term and why?

• I have enjoyed the homework challenges because I liked planning and seeing the finished project.
• I have enjoyed AWS because I like the questions section B normally holds.
• The last thing that I have enjoyed this term is choir because I like singing and I loved that I was even a part. I hope we do another choir next year(And I get in).

What has been challenging this term and why?

• Blog post because I sometimes am blank on Ideas.
• Reading log has to be the hardest because at the start of the year I was full of ideas but now I hardly know one.
• IXL maths is challenging because I don’t know my shapes and this week we have shape IXL tasks

What are you looking forward to next year?

Swimming because I like swimming and I am also looking forward to Impact because I am looking forward to the choices next year.

Homework Mid way reflection

Midway reflection on Homework

Last week on Monday, Whetu was given yet another homework challenge. But this time we had to supply the main piece. Whetu students had to have at least one milk bottle included.

I am going to do a cloud with 3 strings hanging down, those three strings will lead down to 3 Hama bead snowflakes, then the strings become one string that lead down to my milk bottle, Santa.

I got this idea because I wanted to do something related to Christmas, since Christmas is only a month away.

I have started and nearly finished the cloud, I have also done the hama bead snowflakes (I just need the last one Ironed). For Santa’s hat I am going to buy a red hat and then I am going to glue 2 milk lids together. I will paint them  white and then tada I have a pom pom. I think I will call my design Snowy Santa

I hope Snowy Santa is a success and I win. But I won’t have my hopes too high because I think other people might have other cool ideas.

Learning in the Making conference

Learning in the Making Conference

Last week Ngatea School had a Learning in the Making Conference. Learning in the Making is when children choose what workshops they want to do that day. I choose these workshops. Breakout 1: Yoga, Breakout 2: Slime Monsters, Breakout 3: God’s Eye and Breakout 4: Electronics.

Breakout 1: Yoga

This was my favorite workshop  because it was a nice relaxing session. My favorite Yoga move was Down Dog because it stretched My body. This was a fun Breakout. The reason I choose this workshop is because when I get in a bad mood I want to run away, so that is when Yoga will come in and help me to calm down. I rate this workshop a 10/10!

Breakout 2: Slime Monsters

I liked this workshop because it was slimy and I like to get messy But not to wash. The only downer was that I had to go a little into my lunch to finish this workshop. But overall this workshop was a 8/10!

Breakout 3: God's Eyes

For this Breakout I brought in some wool. It was nice and fluffy, colors were:  Blue, Green and Purple. I think my finished product was amazing because it almost looks like a fluffy pillow. Some other people used my wool for their Eyes. 7/10

Breakout 4: Electronics

This was an ok workshop because all we did was try one thing then play games and I’m not into games that much so I rated this a 2/10.

Labour Day

Labour Day

Labour Day is on the fourth Monday of October. It is a public holiday. A public holiday is when mostly everyone gets a day off. Labour Day was created when a man called Samuel Duncan didn’t want to work more than 8 hours a day. He created Labour day. But enough about history. Why do people get a day off? Well, let me answer that. People get a day off because it is a public holiday. This Labour weekend I did nothing but sit on the couch and watch TV. Well not all weekend, I did do some kicking around with a Soccer ball and play with the neighbours.

In The Holidays

In The Holidays

In the holidays I went to Rainbows End with my family. We went on many rides. Here I will list them for you. Corkscrew Roller Coaster x2, Fearfall, Jesse and Dad went on the Invader twice, Dodgems x2, Goldrush x2, Log Flume x2, Bumper Boats x2, Motion Master, Family Karts and For lunch we had Hound dog.

In total that is 15 rides. My favourite ride was the bumper boats because it was fun getting wet and wetting everyone else. The only ride that I NEVER want to go on again was the Fearfall.

Another thing I did in the holidays was go to my Grannys. Jesse and I spent two nights there. We were accompanied by our cousins Jonny and Ben. We went down by a mill. There were a lot of tree branches so Jesse said “Let play a game, pretend we are on an abandoned island and we need to make a little hut.” Turned out since I was the only girl I had to be the Mum Elizabeth, Jonny was the father Jason, Jesse was the older brother Hayden and Ben was the baby brother Henry. We haven’ finished our hut yet, Jonny and Ben were going to try to finish it while Jesse and I went home. I don’t think they did, But I must have hope, shouldn’t  I?

Impact

Impact

For Impact I am in Endangered Animals. My Impact group have no focus because most people don’t finish their follow ups. We have accomplished research but we haven't contacted anyone or been anywhere to help with Impact. Our next steps are to find a focus and work on it. I am enjoying researching and finding out info on these Endangered Animals. The thing which is a down to me is that it has been 7 weeks and we still don’t have a focus.

My Polystyrene Homework

My Polystyrene Homework

Our homework for last week was to take home a polystyrene cylinder and make something out of it. I made a pot plant. Here is a photo of me painting it.

It was hard to choose what to do with my homework so I asked my Nana Dowah, she said pot plant, so I went with pot plant.

It was a very messy job cutting out the inside for the pot. We made the lawn look like it had snowed in some parts. My nana help out a lot in this project, I wouldn't of done it without her. Here was the process of my homework:

1. Subject

3. Cut out hole for pot
4. Paint
5. Touch ups
6. Present

I think the hardest part of my homework was finding the right plant because my Nana has heaps of plants and flowers. The easiest part was to paint the cylinder because I like painting, it is so relaxing.

I think my finished homework is amazing and playful. If I could choose a winner, it would be Logan because his dragon was awesome.

Cross Country

Cross Country

On Monday 22nd August, Ngatea Primary School did Cross Country. I came 11th in my age group. I did not make it into Hauraki Plains. My favourite part in Cross Country was having a lunch order because I enjoyed my juice. Cross Country was fun and muddy. The only part of me that got muddy was my feet and legs. My training really helped me out. My goal for Cross Country was to do my best and have fun. I achieved that goal.

Speech

My Speech

My speech is about the weather. I choose this topic because I want to let students know what what weather is and how it is made. It was hard to choose this topic because I had no ideas, I looked out the window and it hit me. Weather! It was also hard to research and to write the speech. Because when researched something, it would come up with something else. I didn’t change my topic because I was happy with what it was. I am feeling nervous about presenting in my home room. I am not great at presenting in school or anywhere else. I think the hardest thing about writing this speech is research. The hardest thing about presenting this speech is to get the attention.

My Goals

My Term 3 Goals

My Maths goal for this term is to learn my < and >. Because I can’t tell the difference between < and >. I am not on target to achieve this goal. To achieve this goal I need to find old follow up worksheets, copy them and try to work them out.

My Literary goal is to understand words like Ecstatic and it’s meaning. Because I like to read books with a lot of words, but I don’t always know what they mean. I am also not on target for this goal ether. I need to learn to make spelling lists and try to spell big words. And to search definitions and other words like it.

My goal at home is to become flexible like Athletes. I am on target for this goal because I stretch every night.

My favourite that has happened this year is meeting the teachers and the ice skating ring. I am looking forward to the Learning In The Making because I love choosing fun activities. I am also looking forward to impact because I like working with animals.

My Term 2 Holidays

My Term 2 Holidays

In the holidays, I went to Auckland to go to the Lego Exhibition, with my mum, dad and my brother. There was heaps of lego bricks and inventions. My favorite lego creation has to be the Pirate ship and Cruise ship. On one side of the ships was the outside and the other side almost looked like it had been cut in half so people could see the inside. In the inside of the pirate ship, by some jail cells was a Star Wars character called Darth Vader. In every creation you need to find a green Spaceman. There was a competition to win $250 dollars worth of lego. My brother and I entered the competition. I built a playground with a pool, working swing set, slide, climbing wall and table with stools and Jesse built an awesome red tank. It looked like he needed instructions to build it. After Lego we went to the movies and watched Finding Dory. It was funny. My favourite character is Destiny. And my favourite part is when Dory meets up with her long lost family.

Another thing I did in the holiday was to go up to Hamilton to meet some friends who live in Napier. The names of the two boys are Brock and Reid. We meet them at The Base. Before we found them I was jumping from square brick-to-brick when suddenly I tripped on a brick and slammed head first into the concrete. Now I have a black eye. Anyway we went out for lunch. I had Subway, Jesse, Brock and Reid had pies, Mum and Dowah had Sushi and Mrs Kath had something else.

After lunch we went onto a park in the middle of the base. My family went on a quick shopping trip, then we went to join Brock and Reid at this park. My brother went straight to the zip line or as mum likes to call it flying fox. I played on the rope climbing thing.

My plus for the holidays is the time I had with my family, I enjoyed spending time with friends and family.	My minus is getting a black eye.	I found the Lego Expedition interesting because it was amazing to see what people could do with such little bricks.

Ice skating

Ice Skating

On Thursday 9th June the Whetu team went ice skating in the event centre hall. We put on socks then ice skates, helmets and gloves. Around the Ice was inflatable sides. I didn’t use them much, other kids did. My nana told me to go slow but I wanted to go fast. I fell down a lot. Here is some funny news. I was going to say hi my teacher Mrs Lindsay and nana Dowah when I was right in front of her I fell over. They both laughed. After Ice skating I had a big bruise on my right palm of my hand. My family came to ice skate on Saturday. Jesse and I went Ice Skating while mum and Dowah watch. Jesse and I had to put green bibs on. I think I was better at Ice skating then Thursday. Here are some tips:

• Bend your knees
• Look straight
• To turn, turn 1 foot the way you want to go
• Bring your arms out.

There wasn’t many people at Ice rink. My family got there about 3.20-3.25 and we stayed there till 5.00!

At 5.00 a lot of parents arrived. And helped with the breakdown of the rink, and packing up of all the equipment and loading onto their trailers.

My brother and I weren't really interested in packing up the ice rink. So we went to play on the playground.

I rate Ice Skating 1000/1000. I hope we go Ice skating again.

Queen's birthday

Queen Elizabeth’s birthday

The Queen was born on 21 of April 1926.

The Queen’s birthday is a public holiday where schools, government offices, and many businesses are closed.

This holiday is celebrated on the first Monday of June.

This special event is not in all countries around the world. People in NZ celebrate the Queen's birthday by taking the day off work and spending time with loved ones. I don’t have anything planned for the long weekend. My mum and dad always surprise my brother and I on long weekends.

Hockey

On Saturday I played hockey. We played Netherton.

My team won. I played with Jackson, Jack, Tayla, Logan, Ethan, Cruz and Chloe. The score was 3/0. It was a hard game! The weather was not on our side, the first half the wind was behind us so the hockey ball will go to the other team's goal. Second half we were against the wind. I was subbed twice. It rained at the very finish of the game. We played on the Ngatea turf. I think I was good at attack because I could set up a goal for one of my teammates. I think that next game I need to pass the ball to my teammates and be running with the ball. Ethan was the goalie, Logan was captain, Tayla was defence, Chloe was sub and Cruz, Jack, Jackson and I was attack.

I enjoyed playing with the dress ups because I liked putting on dress ups and pretending to be older or smaller than I am. It was kind of funny trying on clothes I wouldn't really wear.	Making up a play was my minus for this week because we didn’t work together or do any teamwork. I worked with Karly, Marleana, Elise and Brooklyn.	I found dress ups interesting because when we worked out a play and we presented it, it turned out different from what we planned but at least it was funny.

I am most proud of my book club because I understand my role. I can finish the chapters I need to read, in no time.
I am also proud of my writing task. We are doing a Scholastics spinning wheel story. The reason I am so proud is that I have made it look like a real book.

I have improved with my reading and I can now read with no help needed.

My Hoildays

My Holidays!

In the holidays I played Ice Age Mini Golf in Hamilton.

My mum won, my dad was second, I was third and my little brother Jesse was last. It was the first time in 12 years that my mum bet my dad! It was awesome. First we went through this winter woods kind-of-thing. There was a Tiger, he looked real, there was also a cave man that talked. He said stuff like Ugh wa uoa. Beside the cave man was a small tent made out of real tusks!!!

In the next room was a jungle. There were dinosaurs! They made noise and moved. Most of the holes where challenging. The hole I really liked was the hole that goes underneath the tiger. You had to shoot the ball into a hole (there was 3 holes) and it would shoot out towards the hole pit. It was hard. I would definitely go back there again.

Another thing I did in the holidays was go to Hot Water Beach. There was a lot of people there. Luckily we found a nice hot spot, Actually IT WAS BURNING!!! My whole family couldn't stay in one place! The funny part was as soon as we made a wall a wave would just come in and reach it so we have to restart. After a while of trying to make a defence, some people behind us got out of their pool and left. They had made a good defence. My family went into the pool and finally we could relax. But that didn't last long. The tide came in, the defence started to crumble. My brother and I worked hard to keep it up, but soon my dad told us to stop and enjoy the pool while it lasted. The sea was freezing cold. Luckily I was on a hot bit of sand otherwise I would be cold from my head to my toes!

New Zealand's Flag

Why change the New Zealand’s flag? Sure it’s like Australia’s, but who cares. In the world wars, men stood up for New Zealand. They looked at the flag and did it for their country. My reasons for not wanting to changing the flag are

1. The new flag is ugly (Well to me it is.)
2. We don’t need a new flag, the one we have is all we need.
3. The only things on the  new flag that represents the country are the southern cross and the fern.

Easter

Easter

Easter is a public holiday where the Easter bunny comes and hides Easter eggs around your home.

Easter Eggs are chocolate eggs in glitter wrap.

To celebrate Easter we have Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. Easter Friday is a when Jesus died on the cross. Easter Sunday is when Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead.

Jesus died on the cross on Friday. People put him in a tomb and put a boulder on it.

Jesus resurrection from the dead was on Sunday.

The Easter Bunny hides Easter eggs in ridiculous  places like in the garden or on the rubbish bin.

Some people don’t believe in the Easter Bunny but I do.

Sometimes if you are lucky you can get a hollow chocolate bunny. They can last days.

My family don’t do anything on Easter. Once in 2013 in Maramarua my brother Jesse and I found heaps off Easter Eggs around our house.

On Easter a long time ago people gave eggs around to people as Easter Eggs, now we have chocolate eggs.

Eggs represent a new beginning and Hot Cross Buns represent Jesus when he died on the cross.

Scooby Doo and The Slime Monster

Scooby Doo and the Slime Monster!!!

One day Scooby doo and Shaggy were walking to the park when Scooby doo saw a ice cream cart. ‘’Rice ream raggy rice ream.’’Said Scooby.’’ Gee Scooby are you hungry.’’ Rumble, rumble went Scooby tummy. They rushed off to get a ice cream. They got three fat scoops of lemon and lime. Before Scooby could take a bite his ice cream fell over.

‘’ It’s ok Scoob’’ Said Shaggy but It wasn’t , it started to rain.’’ Look’’ Said Shaggy. He pointed to the ice cream. The ice cream was now slime, but not just slime but crafting a slime monster." Run Scooby it's a. . ." Started Shaggy. " Rime Romster.’’ Streamed Scooby. "Run ror rour rife." \Slime monster. Run for your live./

They ran to the park and hid in the tunnel." Scoob can you get your butt  off my face it stinks." Wisped Shaggy."Russhh Raggy Rime Romster rere." Said Scooby doo. The Slime Monster was looking everywhere for them. He even looked in the toilets.

Then he heard something." Ok Scoob I have an idea we will escape when the Slime Monster is looking in the toilets." I said.

But of course it already had looked. Then the Slime Monster found them.’’ Blblblblblbl.’’ Said the Slime Monster. The Slime Monster yelled.” “Run run run run Scooby!” Cried Shaggy.

They run down the road, though the shops and into the school.

They hid in room five (5). The Slime Monster ran after them. But he was not fast enough.

The slime monster looked around the school looking for them. He went into the office thinking they would be there. He didn’t know that the Principal was still working. The slime monster went into the principal's office. The principal saw the slime monster and pressed the fire escape button. The noise was so loud that it blinded the slime monster.

If I could I would give playing on the pool toy I would give it  a 10 out of 10 Because I had fun Climbing onto the platform. I am glad my letter is up on the wall.	My MDR was hard because some questions tricked my mind.	I found playing Checkers interesting, playing with Caitlyn, now she’s a challenge.

Wednesday 24 February

At Swimming sports day I did Non Champs Freestyle one leanth, Non Champs Backstroke one leanth and Champs Breath stroke one leanth. My mum and Nana Came and they handed out the juices. I got too cause my mother payed for another one for me.

I enjoyed Breath Stroke the most. I got a Blue block at Non Champs Freestyle one leanth. The weather was terrific, Clouds, sun and no rain. I did not make it into HP but at least I tried my best.

I was really wished we did Dolphin dives but we did not have enough time.We did Swimming Sports with Manama.

I am slowly getting used to Whetu  and the Students and Teachers.

I hope to do a lot more posts like this.
