On Wednesday, Marama went to Waihi Beach. We had a beach day.
At the start, we learned how to recognize rips and we got a tour of the tower.
We go to have a little play with some of the equipment.
One of my friends got given a walkie-talkie and got sent outside.
Before we learned anything we had been split into year groups. All of the year 7 girls laughed when my friend asked if she could come back in on the walkie-talkie.
Here are two photos of me at the beach:
Here are 3 things that I have learned from lifeguards
- to recognize a rip look for calm, discolored patches on the beach.
- Never swim alone. Have a parent or adult watch over you.
- Use the correct and safe equipment.
